Tamil superstar Rajinikanth was honoured on Thursday with the centenary award for Indian Film Personality of the year at the 45th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
Rajinikanth received the award from Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley and Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, which consists of a cash prize of Rs.10 lakhs, a certificate and the Silver Peacock Medal. It was instituted last year to commemorate 100 years of Indian Cinema.
Accepting the honour, Rajinikanth referred to Bachchan as his ‘big brother’.
“To make a speech after Amit ji’s excellent speech, I have no words. I am fortunate to be here today. I am honoured to receive this prestigious award,” said Rajinikanth.
