Jr NTR, the name is the roaring, who entered into films almost as an outsider, went on the become the Thalaiva of Tollywood today. It was just his name and the talent that backed him during his initial days. Though NTR’s first film, Ninnu Chudalani, which released exactly 15 years ago, bombed at the box office, the spark in him was noticed by many bigwigs in the industry. It just took a hit for the actor to become a star overnight and accept him as the next big thing from the Nandamuri family.
The actor’s second film, Student No 1, which happens to be the debut film of S S Rajamouli, in fact changed NTR’s life and had kick started a new epoch. There was no looking back for the actor from then and very soon he banked a heap of praises for his acting prowess, unchallenged dialogue delivery, diction and dances. However, a series of flops bogged him down, after a point. Apparently, his good will in the industry and phenomenal craze in the masses, helped him to sustain in the top league. We can say, Rajamouli takes a large piece of credit in NTR’s career.
Though Rakhi was a moderate success, it is Rajamouli’s Yamadonga, which brought back the actor into the track. Most importantly, Rajamouli stressed on the looks of the actor and made him get into shape. The tremendous make over for Yamadonga, can be termed as a turning point for NTR, as he was always bashed by the critics and audience for his ‘not -so-pleasing’ looks. The actor, who is currently shooting for Sukumar’s Nannaku Prematho has come a long way and we can really call his 15 years of journey, a glorious one as he has seen the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows and still sustained his position in the top league.
